Yule Time Productivity

Did you know that the capital of Greenland is called Nuuk?
Maybe I was channeling some of my new found interest in Greenland this week when I did some Christmas crafting and made these very-reminiscent-of-landscapes pendants -
(there were more but some have already been gifted)
The ridges and contours are formed by the medium of the mould. Which of all the bloody things, is cuttlefish. Though no marine life was injured in the making of this jewellery.

I'm considering selling some of these funny little trinkets for pocket money, so I will keep you posted my fine young honeybees on the future crafting endeavours.
Until next time, Yule time spirit abounds.

Dying For It

Good day lovelies,
I'm going to talk picture-journal you through an afternoon I had recently:

Start this tale by imagining the sort of girls who would hang out with young Drew
eat treats and talk about boys
while the peroxide destroys our brain cells in the most non-zombie fab way...

Yes that's right babes! This is a tale about NewHairColour.

Initially I was looking for an aqua-green but ended up going for Crazy Colour lavender

Channeling babe vibes while the dye sets in:

And then!

 PurplePinkBlonde frivolity!

One must finish any afternoon such as this by being Antisocial at a party -
and here we have it babes!
New Hair for New Times

What do you think little SeaShells?
I love it, but in a strange way I can't wait for it to wash out so I can pick a new colour to be. (And by that time I will be indulging in London city with oh so many more choices than dear ol' Melbourne, Australia)

Side note - I'm pleased to inform you that my lastest purchase (from Urban Outfitters) is all that Jackie-O fabulousness and tortoise-shell more that matches the hair Perrr-Fect-Ly

Not Entirely Quaint. 'instead of carpet I'll have money wall to wall'

Flower wreath construction
A friend reluctantly gave me all the flowers from his childhood toy chest the other day - it is hard to convince hoarders to part ways with their goods but I could hardly let such gems continue to lay dormant in a stinky box.
Another hair trinket; another day.
***** TOTZ ALTERNATIVE! HIPPY FESTIVAL GIRL! GUARANTEED INDIVIDUALITY! *****
-my imaginary ebay listing chic
why go to ebay? All you need is malleable wire (double the width of your noggin), an assortment of flowers, some ribbon (to cover the sparse look of wire) and some pliers to manipulate the whole situation - But what am I saying? you babes are clever, I don't need to explain common sense to y'all

Aren't my flowers pretty? "so pretty!" I hear you exclaim "all faded and pastel, what more could a girl want?"
"I want an old fashioned house, with an old fashioned fence
And an old fashioned millionaire."
- ah Eartha Kitt, you understand me so and she does the Best crazy eyes

Crustaceans Really Should Just Come in 'Glitter' already

Wholesome gal - sitting in the garden, painting a giant shell with glitter. (if you like this you should see the birdhouse I made a few weeks ago - just like a bored 6 year old)

Impatiently waiting for the PVA to dry results in strange photos but - look at those stars!
You too could have a shell this pretty! - all you need is watered down PVA, stars, glitter, a paint brush that you don't love and some spare time.
And I know what you're thinking 'Who Wouldn't want a giant glittery shell?' I know kids, I know, some people ask the strangest questions - obviously 'no-one'. (Ah double negatives)

Onto clothes - Pink was my new black, but I may have to crawl back to black - somewhat Beetlejuice, somewhat 'I intend to have a uniform of dark colours when travelling' and general goth-fab is lending itself to a new outlook. (See that scarf? Every self respecting fabulous person needs a good warm wool-bower )
Poochie (so regal) she too agrees with black fur as a must.
Ah Winona
As I told the doctor - 'sometimes when you feel like shit the only thing to make it better is to feel like a princess' (hence skirt) and then the boredom led to photobooth.

The shell has a story, but, I chose not to illuminate. Be satisfied with the knowledge that glitter is all important always.

Snow Shuffle

This blog is a place for materialistic desires (my conscience prefers MATERIALISTIC EXPRESSIONISM), and so, given that I have booked tickets headed away from sunny Australia to chilly Iceland and Russia, I'm indulging -
Cold Times Shopping List

First - some good creepers. For stomping.

Recently I saw some Issey Miyake creepers in an opshop for $40 (op shops are so greedy these days) that were just a tad too far towards hideous on the ever present amazing-vs-hideous scale (sadly they didn't fit anyway). Generally though, I am scared of buying creepers - they all seem so much fiercer than me.
•
Obviously I will need Yohji Yamamoto a/w2000 - the ultimate Tibetan Snow Shaman collection (yes that's right - 'the ultimate', because the competition in that category is so great)
And should I fall victim to the pressures of sleep - no problem - donna dress is a bed that travels with you! Snoozin Chic.

It is important to keep our precious heads snug too, encased in fluffly tombs. Is something here reminicant of Hoth attire?
•
Marc Jacobs a/w2010. So much amish-y goodness from this collection. Practical sweaters for practical people. Not-so-practical etherial dresses for practical people too.
•
021701
Tsumori Chisato a/w2011colours for legs. I love how the collection was true to the label - lots of colour and cute and bright - but retained a more muted element to make it seasonal.
•
LD Tuttle collaboration with Complex Geometries A/W 11-12. Also for stomping. Somehow I feel they would be practical for the snow. Probably because they resemble dinosaurs - and no one fucks with dinosaurs (except extinction)

Alas I am currently dancing the line between thrifty and greedy, I should be saving my pennies on actually Getting to Iceland.
Put simply, I'm just going to start attaching pom poms to everything in an attempt to curb spending and satiate my wanton ways.
Pompom times began yesterday after finding my sister making a model of phosphorus using pipecleaners and fluff balls in all my favourite colours. A tiara was born.

Bye for now and Sweet Dreams!
Goodnight, you princes of Maine. You kings of New England

Freedom for the Lobes

DSfreedom6reduced
Oh Heck!
look at these Danielle Scutt FREEDOM at Topshop hair earrings

A week or so ago I trimmed my fringe and with the left over hair made an earring (resourceful Always).
My 13 year old sister thought it disgusting - "but you're a Freak! You're making a hair earring! Using Your Own Hair"
SHUSH LITTLE ONE I say now
shush indeed

Stack Your Desires

There's some funky down town guy in New York who puts platforms on shoes. He did these shoes for Party Monster (but this is just Macaulay rockin). I wish I could construct platforms. Life would be easier. I'm sure it could be learnt, but there are many things that can be learnt, where I would much rather possess the skill fully formed.
Macaulay Culkin
It is these Prada s/s11 that make me desire platform skills especially at the moment. Crafty desires.
These plimsoles that Susie snapped also are making my fingers tingle with the knowledge that I could attempt and fail at making something so cute.
